About Us

Hyland Centre Child Care is a non-profit centre run by a volunteer Board of Directors and licensed by the Ministry of Education.

Ontario’s Ministry of Education has developed the “How Does Learning Happen?” resource to support program and curriculum development/enrichment throughout children’s early years.  A policy statement on programming and pedagogy was included in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA).  Together, these resources guide and support child care operators in their development and implementation of a program statement unique to the programs and services developed for young children, which are “intended to strengthen the quality of programs and ensure high quality experiences that lead to positive outcomes in relation to children’s learning, development, health and well-being”. Hyland Centre Child Care is committed to providing a high-quality children’s program grounded in the ever-evolving understanding of best practices in early learning.  Hyland Centre strives to support our children, their families and our staff, keeping as highest priority the quality of relationships among the children, their families, our early learning staff, our school environment and our community.  Hyland Centre staff believes that all children are rich in potential in their development in all areas of childhood, especially when offered enriching environments and experiences.  At Hyland Centre, we are dedicated to the four foundations honoured by our profession for children: Belonging, Engagement, Expression, and Well-Being. These four foundations are the basis of the “How Does Learning Happen?” document.

Hyland Centre Child Care is open from 7:15 to 5:30, Monday to Friday, year round. We provide care for children ages 15 months to 12 years old in our Toddler Program (15months to 30months), Preschool Program (2.5years to SK), Before and After School Program (JK to 12years) and Summer Camp Program for school age children.

In the fall of 2022, Hyland Centre Child Care enlisted in the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) agreement with the province of Ontario and the government of Canada. Through this agreement base fees will decrease in four intervals until reaching $12.00/day for children under 6 years old.
